For the 2nd season of Alpha TV's show "Agios Erotas" a VFX sequence of 28 shots was delivered in under 3 weeks, requiring full 3D and Smoke Simulation work to realise the fictional destruction of a church and village.
Combining on set references such as LiDAR scans and reference photos, a 3D chandelier could realisically fall from the ceiling, and buildings and concrete could be shattered and destroyed.
Also the sequence was able to be completed in such a short time due to AI assisted depth map and segmentation matte generation, which allowed for seamless compositing of the smoke and 3D elements, as well as the use of a custom Nuke plugin for fog generation from the depth map.
